Christian Rohrer

Design Executive, Strategist and Design Research Expert

I am a User Experience Design and Research Executive with 25+ years experience running design and research at top Internet, mobile and tech companies. My formal education was in Computer Science at UC Santa Cruz, and later I attained a doctorate at Stanford, where I studied Cognitive Science, Education, Human-Computer Interaction, and User Interface Design. In my corporate career, I have managed team sizes of all sizes, and budgets ranging from $500,000 to $60 million per year. As a leader, I have specialized in attracting, developing and retaining top UX and Product talent and developing them to reach their full potential. I authored a popular framework for understanding user research methods for the Nielsen Norman Group, and in 2016 pioneered a pragmatic method for quantifying ease of use for any product or application.

My specialties include Product Strategy, Design Thinking, User Experience Design, User Research, Strategic Design, User Experience Organizations and Leadership, Executive Decision Making, Product Innovation, New Markets, Market Research, Lean UX, Agile, and User-Centered Design methodologies. I write articles and give presentations on these topics at a variety of conference venues and consult for a handful of companies. I am currently authoring a book defining how to measure user experience and examining the barriers that prevent companies from delivering the experience their most important customers deserve, including stories about how some companies have overcome these barriers.
